Dual Carriageways

Dual-Carriageways (DC's) are now commonplace and are found all over the country. They come in different layouts, but the basic principles for using these roads remains constant.

Joining the Dual-Carriageway

DCOnAlthough the length of a joining slip road (acceleration lane) may vary, the technique for merging with traffic in the left hand lane of the DC is similar. As you move along the slip lane you should match your speed to that of any traffic on the DC (by checking mirrors), and when you have done so you should check your right hand door mirror again and you blind spot BEFORE moving onto the DC
